Tomorrow's "all hallows' eve", la vispera de todos los santos; a very special eve for most Northamerican kids and I'dare say for very many children around the world: it's halloween!!

Many people 'criticise' this feast because they think it's just an 'American product'; however, it has existed for centuries, celtic druids celebrated it even 5 centuries BC.

The next time someone says 'es una americanada', remind him or her that our ancestors and even we celebrated when were children, we made our Jack-o-lantern carving melons and putting a candle inside them. The origin is in the pagan celebration of Samhain:

On the night of October 31, celts celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth...
So people disguised in order not to be recognized in case they may encountered them.

So, we have made some arrangements to have a halloween party tomorrow; I have also prepared a glogster for my 1º ESO students:

They and I will bring costumes and disguised as monster, witches, dead....we'll dance M. Jackson's "Thriller" and then in groups of three will go 'trick-or-treating' to other classes whose teachers have accepted the idea and will give them candies!!

Use any possible occasion to make learning English more authentic, particularly such an enjoyable festivity as this.

ENJOY HALLOWEEN
